The Story of Texas Floor Mosaic
"We are mosaic -- pieces of light, love, history, stars glued together with magic and words."
-Anita Krizzan.
If you ever visit the beautiful city of Austin, Texas do not forget to visit The Bullock Museum; where you are going to find the story of Texas, and for sure you will be fascinated about that; but one of the most amazing thing you are going to see is the astonish Mosaic in the main entrance of the museum. That mosaic is about 40 feet in diameter, the mosaic was made of forty - seven colors of polished, finely ground chips of stones and glass bound with epoxy, using a technique called Terrazzo by the artist and fifth generation Robert T. Ritter. In the mosaic you can find a short review about the first people in Texas, the emblematic animal, vegetation, and landscape all around in the state; in a few words The Story of Texas.

It's amazing, beacuse we can find and learn the general american history only in a great artwork, the astonish Mosaic. Thank you for share us your experience!
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful mosaic. I really liked the museum because I could learn the history of Texas. In México we are always told how Texas became part of U.S , but now I could see the other version .
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I also visited the museum and didn't know the story behind the mosaic, I thought they were some cowboys. I think I'll have to go back :D.
